How can we break down repeating patterns into simpler parts?
Imagine you're listening to a repeating melody on your phone. You want to understand its structure.
Think of the melody as a wave that repeats every few seconds. We can split this wave into simpler waves that add up to create the original melody.
Example
If the melody repeats every 4 seconds and you know the simpler waves repeat every 2 seconds, you can figure out the original melody by combining these simpler waves.
