Did you know your brain uses a lot of energy but weighs very little?
Imagine you're trying to lose weight, but every time you think about it, you eat a whole pizza. Why does your brain seem to make you hungry even when you're not hungry?
Your brain is like a tiny computer that needs a lot of power. Even though it's only 2% of your weight, it uses 20% of your body's energy. This means it's always working hard, which can make you feel hungry.
Example
If your brain weighs 2 pounds and uses 20% of your body's energy, it uses the same amount of energy as if you weighed 40 pounds.
Remember this
Your brain's high energy demand explains why it can influence your hunger, even when you're not physically hungry.
