Can you see depth in a flat painting?
Can you see depth in a flat painting?
Imagine you're looking at a painting of a vase. From one angle, it looks like a vase. But what if you saw it as two overlapping circles? That's what Cubist artists aimed to do.
Cubist artists broke down objects into geometric shapes to show different perspectives at once. This technique is called Cubism.
Example
In Picasso's painting, the vase is seen as overlapping shapes, not just one circle or one vase.
Remember this
Cubism shows multiple viewpoints simultaneously, making you see depth in a flat image.
