Did Ada Lovelace invent the first computer program?
Imagine you're trying to write a recipe that can cook different meals based on the ingredients you have. You want the recipe to automatically adjust the cooking time and temperature for each dish.
Ada Lovelace understood that a machine like Babbage's could follow a set of instructions to perform tasks beyond simple math, like cooking various meals with different settings.
Example
If you input "chicken" and "grill" into the recipe, it calculates the right temperature and time for grilling chicken.
Remember this
Lovelace's insight was that computers could manipulate symbols according to rules, not just numbers, making her the first programmer.
